Daniel A. (Dan) Bilot is senior vice president and manager of the company’s Analytical Services Department, which provides catastrophe modeling, actuarial and financial analysis services to clients. He is also leader of Collins’ Property Practice group which includes oversight of primary and reinsurance market intell as well as strategic placements. 

Collins’ analytical services team measures a client’s exposure to losses caused by natural perils as well as by terrorism. With this information, the team helps companies understand their exposure to risk and the probability of losses, and assists them in designing effective risk transfer mechanisms as part of their reinsurance programs.

Since joining Collins in 2000, Mr. Bilot’s accomplishments have included:

·      The design and development of a proprietary software program to optimize catastrophe portfolios and reinsurance structures;

·      Design and programming of a data processing system that has processed $200 billion in gross property premiums since first implemented five years ago;

·      Management of a catastrophe modeling team that successfully analyzes $25 billion in property premiums annually;

·      The programming of tools, specific to each client, to help estimate reinsurance costs and maximize ceded premium; and

·      The development of optimization techniques providing for a proactive approach to portfolio management.

·      Design and implementation of CatXplorer™, Collins proprietary catastrophe management software which combines traditional modeling with cutting edge GIS technology.  CatXplorer™ allows our clients to better understand their risks by introducing GIS spatial data to the analysis of catastrophe portfolios.  CatXplorer™ also helps to optimize reinsurance structures and identify areas of profitable growth.

 

He has extensive experience with Applied Insurance Research (AIR), Risk Management Solutions (RMS) and EQECAT (EQE) catastrophe modeling programs.

 

Mr. Bilot holds a bachelor’s in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
