Chairwoman of the Board

Megan Ogden
Energy Insurance Management, LLC

Megan Ogden is the Controller for Energy Insurance Management, LLC where she is responsible for the accounting and information processing of Energy Captive Management (ECM), as well as the administration of captives managed by ECM.   Prior to her current role, Megan was a Senior Vice President with Marsh Captive Solutions and the Chief Operating Officer for JLTIM USA.  She started her career in the captive insurance industry in the Cayman Islands with Marsh Management Services.  She has extensive experience both domestically and offshore with all types of captives in various industries.

Megan received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama and her CPA designation in North Carolina.

Gary Osborne
Risk Partners

Gary Osborne joined Risk Partners as Vice President of Alternative Risk programs in 2018. Gary has 33 years of captive experience having worked in four different domiciles (Bermuda, Vermont, Hawaii and South Carolina). Gary has been involved in writing parts of the captive laws in South Carolina and Tennessee and has previously been a faculty member of ICCIE (International Center for Captive Insurance Education).  

Gary's career began in 1982 on the audit staff of Deloitte Haskins and Sells, followed by senior auditing role at Price Waterhouse. Gary then enjoyed progressive responsibilities while managing captive portfolios at Marsh & McLennan (Bermuda) and then Johnson & Higgins (Vermont). Gary was then hired by Sedgwick to establish a captive management operation in Hawaii. After Sedgwick outsourced captive management to USA Risk Group 1995, Gary held various management positions there, including President from 1995-2018. Gary was responsible for all aspects of company operation including expanding the company through acquisitions, overseeing captive management, financial operations of the company.

Gary has often been featured in Captive Review, Risk Retention Reporter, Captive Insurance Times, and other industry publications.   He  has been  very  active  in industry trade associations, including Hawaii Captive Insurance Council (Conference Chair & Treasurer), National Risk Retention Association) (Director  &  currently  Government  Affairs  Committee),  Tennessee  Captive  Insurance Association (Director), South Carolina Captive Association (currently Director), and a Member of the CICA task group for publication of Captive Insurance Standards for Service Providers. Gary has also been recognized by the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association as the Jim Hinton Volunteer of the Year and by the Vermont Captive Insurance Association with its Industry Service Award.

 


Treasurer/Corporate Secretary

William A. Russell III
Jarrad, Nowell & Russell, LLC

William A. Russell III, CPA, a partner with Jarrad, Nowell and Russell, LLC, has over fifteen years in corporate financial management and captive insurance company management, Will began his career as assistant treasurer for Charleston-based Cameron & Barkley Company and has served as director of treasury and risk management for Hagemeyer North American, Inc. Previously he served as assistant vice president with Marsh Management Services, Inc. (a division of Marsh & McLennan).

His experience includes the design and implementation of treasury systems, alternative financing structures and cash flow modeling. He also has worked in the captive management industry where he was responsible for managing over 30 clients with assets in excess of $500 million.

A certified public accountant, Will earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clemson University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA). He also serves on the finance committee for the Summerville Chamber of Commerce.

Linda Danna 
Indigo Captive Insurance Consulting 

Prior to joining Indigo Captive Insurance Consulting, Linda Danna was a Senior Advisory Consultant for Marsh Captive Solutions advising clients on the advantages and challenges of captive formation by conducting feasibility studies, strategic reviews, domicile reviews and exit strategy studies. Linda was also an Account Executive for Marsh, responsible for providing continuing services to Marsh Management captive clients. At Marsh, Linda was responsible for a team servicing four healthcare clients including two of the largest risk retention groups as well as several other captive insurance companies in other industries. Other industries include construction, transportation, manufacturing, financial services, among others. Linda also consults on policy administration best practices, client financial controls, audit practices and reinsurance agreements.

 

Before joining Marsh in 2005, Linda was CFO for a venture capital firm providing financial, accounting and operational advice on its equity investments. Prior to that position, Linda served at a senior level with a software development and technology services company as well as Regional Controller, Manager of Financial Reporting and Control, and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis in the oil and gas industry with two Fortune 500 firms.  Linda has a BBA, Marketing from the University of Texas and a MS in Accountancy from the University of Houston.

Steven D. Dyer
Steve Dyer Law, LLC

Steve Dyer practices law with Steve Dyer Law, LLC in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.  His practice focuses on captive insurance, insurance agency, and other insurance regulatory issues.  He advises clients regarding the organization, licensing and redomestication of captives, including risk retention groups; insurance agency contract, licensing and best practice issues; and other insurance-related corporate and regulatory matters.  His experience includes more than 20 years in-house with a medium-sized property and casualty insurer, and more than 13 years with private practice law firms before starting his own practice in April 2017. 

He is licensed to practice law in four jurisdictions active in captive insurance:  South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia.

Matt Watson
Advantage Insurance Management (USA), LLC

Matt Watson joined Advantage Insurance Management in 2012 and serves as Vice President, Business Insurance. Matt forms and manages pure captives, segregated cell captives, 831b captives, and risk retention groups. He works with tax attorneys and client advisors to form captives in both onshore and offshore domiciles.

Matt has over 18 years of financial services related experience. Prior to Advantage Matt worked in corporate accounting for a Fortune 500 transportation company. He has also worked in public accounting. Matt serves on nonprofit boards in the Charleston, SC area including the Palmetto Professional Society, where he is the President, he is a co-founder of Families for Fertility, and he is the Vice Commodore of the James Island Yacht Club. Matt is a Certified Public Accountant (South Carolina). Matt holds a BS Finance from Clemson University and an MBA from Kennesaw State University.

Charles "Ricky" Saltzman     
Mississippi Health Care Insurance Services Corporation

Ricky Saltzman is currently the President of Mississippi Health Care Insurance Services Corporation (MHCISC). MHCISC provides management services to all our insurance plans/programs in the long-term care industry (CULIC, MHCA SIF, MHCA EBP, & LTCEIC). Those services include marketing, underwriting, claims, loss control, policy services, and other general administrative functions. Ricky is also President of both, Caregivers United Liability Insurance Company (CULIC), RRG, and Long Term Care Employers Insurance Company (LTCEIC). Additionally, Ricky serves as Plan Manager for the Mississippi Health Care Association Employee Benefit Plan (MHCA EBP), a MEWA that is the major-medical plan for employees of the MHCA (trade association) members. As well as the Fund Manager for the MHCA Self Insurers Fund which is a non-profit, statewide Workers’ Compensation Self Insurers’ Fund.

Catherine M. Treen  
Indiana University Health, Inc.

Cathy M. Treen, Esq. has served as an advocate for health care providers for more than 25 years.  Cathy received a B.S. degree in Accounting from Indiana University in 1988 and received her law degree cum laude from Northern Illinois University in 1991.  Cathy began her legal career representing health care providers in medical malpractice litigation in Indiana and Illinois as a private practice attorney. Cathy left private practice to serve as Chief Counsel to Wishard Health Services. She was also responsible for managing its self-insured worker’s compensation program and for purchasing all lines of insurance coverage for the hospital and its parent organization. Cathy then joined The Medical Protective Company in 2002 and was responsible for managing medical malpractice litigation for its insureds in central and southern Indiana.  In 2006, Cathy joined Indiana University Health, Inc. and currently serves as works as an Assistant General Counsel and manages malpractice litigation.  She is Vice-President of IU Health Risk Retention Group, Inc.

Cathy is admitted to the bar of the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana as well as the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  She is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana and the Indiana Society for Healthcare Risk Management.  Cathy holds the designation of Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM).  She also has completed Six Sigma training and assisted on various process improvement projects while at The Medical Protective Company.  Cathy also holds an active Indiana Insurance Producer’s License.

Steve Watson    
The Biltmore Company

Steve serves as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer for The Biltmore Company, with responsibilities including overall corporate managerial responsibilities for the accounting, finance, human resources, and information technology departments. Before joining The Biltmore Company, Steve served as vice president of finance and accounting for Revman Industries, a large textile manufacturer and marketing company in Greenville, SC. During his 11-year tenure at that company, he also served as controller. His prior experience includes positions as financial analyst with the Bi-Lo Corporation, corporate accounting manager for J.P. Stevens & Co., and staff accountant for a regional CPA firm.

Steve received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and his MBA from Clemson University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Global Management Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, and has been instrumental in helping shape the company’s financial health as well as an important partner in setting strategic directions for the company’s business growth and development. Additionally, Steve serves on the Board of Directors for Mountain Housing Opportunities and the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
